CHICAGO ASSOCIATION OF

SPRING MANUFACTURERS, INC. (CASMI)

CASMI was founded in 1944 as a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to the development of good business practices, and sharing of technical information through ongoing communications among the job-shop spring manufacturers in the Greater Chicago area. Membership includes companies in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin areas.

CASMI sponsors the SPRING WORLD® Trade Show every two years. New technology presented at this event brings thousands of people to the Chicago area from all over the world. Since the first show in 1959, SPRING WORLD® has become the largest gathering of the Spring Manufacturing and Wire Forming Industry anywhere at one time! Over 150 exhibiting companies demonstrate machinery, show raw materials, test equipment, software and other products and services. SPRING WORLD®  2008 was very successful despite difficult economic times and our next show is shaping up to continue the tradition.

SPRING WORLD®  2008 and Wire Forming will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois October 13-15, 2010. CASMI has expanded the show to include wire forming exhibits. An increased number of wire forming companies are expected to exhibit in 2010 as well as in subsequent years.

CASMI Member companies enjoy eight monthly dinner meetings annually. These meetings are informative with management and technical subjects covered by guest speakers as well as member participation.

CASMI members and suppliers come together for networking opportunities at several annual events, including our golf outing, an annual valentine dinner dance, as well as other activities. These popular events that have become highlights on every industry calendar.

CASMI Connections, our association newsletter is e-mailed to CASMI members and to suppliers. This internal publication provides updates on industry issues of interest and information about CASMI activities and industry news.

One of CASMI's most successful activities is it's Scholarship Program open to dependents of employees of the member companies. In 2008, CASMI awarded twenty $2,000 scholarships, and one special $2,500 Scholarship to employees of CASMI member companies and their dependents. The CASMI Scholarship Program has become an important employee benefit for member companies and its announcement is highly anticipated every year.  The program is made possible by the participation of the entire industry in the SPRING WORLD® show.

CASMI Member Companies enjoy a Tuition Reimbursement Program which was introduced in 1999. This program was created as a means of encouraging professionalism and skill development through participation in key educational programs sponsored by the Spring Manufacturers Institute (SMI) and other viable programs. Participants receive limited reimbursement for attending an educational program, as well as for the costs incurred by purchasing SMI Spring Design software and safety training videos.
